Kobuchizawa Country Club
On the southern slopes of Yatsugatake, 1,150 metres up. A classic course facing Yatsugatake, the Southern Alps and Mount Fuji.
- LOCATION Kobuchizawa, Hokuto, Yamanashi
- COURSE 18 holes, par 72, 6,880 yards
- ACCESS About 5 minutes from Kobuchizawa IC (Chuo Expressway)
The course opened in May 1989 on rolling land cradled by Yatsugatake. It was designed by Kokichi Yasuda, one of Japan's first professional golfers.
A private club built on the idea that "a good course raises golfers, and golfers in turn raise the course", it keeps a classic layout with few blind holes in fine condition.
At 1,150 metres, the holes look out to Yatsugatake, the Southern Alps and Mount Fuji.
The highland air is dry and cool even in midsummer, and winter days are comparatively sunny.
- A classic layout — Kokichi Yasuda's design has few blind holes and plenty of strategy, rewarding beginners and experienced players alike.
- A natural-grass range — About 300 yards long — a driving range where you hit off natural grass, which is rare in Japan.
- Carts on the fairway — Carts may drive onto the fairways in any weather, and GPS navigation shows the distance to the pin.
After the round, dine on seasonal local produce in a dining room facing the Southern Alps, then unwind in the large bath, its tall windows framed by trees.
Winter closure: 18 January – 19 February 2027 On arrival: a jacket is recommended (except June–September); collarless shirts alone are not permitted On the course: collared shirts; soft-spike or spikeless shoes
